The Stone Pro Setting System is a small lifting device that uses leverage to lift a monument. This little device can be found on MilesSupply.com and sells for just north of $300. But I would say that the Stone Pro is worth the price if you are the right owner. What I mean be this is that I have done some work with this fancy crow bar where I and another worker broke a black 6x3x8 P5 out in the cemetery. We had to extend the length of the bar to get enough weight on the stone but we were able to brake the monument free without any significant trouble.
This being said there are some issue that I take with this machine. It is somewhat unruly to store and retrieve on the truck. The shape of the Stone Pro does not allow for easy storing because it is easy to set things on top of it which then forces you to remove anything that you have in the way to get at the little devil. Another complaint that I have is that the Setter Pro does not handle tight spaces very well. The handle only operates at a certain angle and if there is a stone tight to either side of the monument that you are setting the you will have a little trouble trying to use the Stone Pro. The last complaint that I have with the Stone Pro is that there is a learning curve in how to get the pads into the proper position so that they cam on the stone properly. That said though, there is going to be a learning curve with any new toy that you get your hands on. So if you buy one of these devices spend some time learning to use it before you send it with your crew out to the cemetery.
To close on a good note. The Stone Pro is a great piece of equipment if you do a lot of P5's because it allows you to lift the stone without having to worry about chipping the corner of the monument. You also don't have to attempt to lean those north of 4 foot stones and pull your boards out from under the stone. That is just asking for a stone to not be balanced right and the have it fall on one of your setting crew.
Thanks for reading this review and I hope that you keep reading as we post them.
